This represents the most radical transformation of this model - the addition of proper guard rails to replace the solid moulded versions previously removed. These are, actually, 1:350 rails and so slightly over-scale, but are such an improvement over the originals. They are produced by White Ensign, and are extremely fragile but well worth the effort; the damage shown in the photograph is easily rectified by gently prising the rails back to shape with a scalpel blade. The guard rails round the main deck will be added later as they are very vulnerable. At the same time I added etched stairs (surplus from previous projects) and etched ladder to the funnel.
