The "Grange" was very similar to the more numerous "Hall" Class, but can be recognised by the step in the running plate above the cylinder. This was to raise the cylinder to the same height as the "Hall" to compensate for the smaller diameter driving wheels and thus ensure clearance for the cylinder.
